Tomato and Mince TV Comfort Stew

It snowed hard and dinner plans were cancelled. I was cranky and didn't feel like cooking - yet again. The news is just too depressing. I was hungry and wanted a big bowl of something warm and comforting that I could eat with a spoon in front of a stupid TV show. And that, my friends, is how this came about.
You cook serve this over pasta, but I wanted something brothy, more like a stew.
I used homemade freezer tomato sauce, but your favorite jarred is just fine.
1/3 lb best ground beef selection you can find ( I used Pat LaFrieda's ground sirloin)
1/3 small white onion, chopped
1/4 c finely chopped basil leaves
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Heat the olive oil in a pan along with the garlic, onion, and some salt.
Cook for a few minutes, stirring from time to time, until everything smells delicious before adding the beef.
Cook over medium heat until browned through.
Remove any excess fat before adding the tomato sauce. Heat until hot and bubbling around the edges.
Ladle into a bowl and toss in the basil.
